About

The Cantonment Board has an area approx to 9038.2883 acres spread across various villages.

This cantonment Board has its own independent water supply scheme commenced in the year 2007.

It has 4 GSR’s, 1 treatment plant which includes 2 pumps of 125HP capacity.

The supply of water to the residents of the Cantonment area works in three stages, as mentioned below

Supplying of treated water to the residents through gravity.

Water Connections

Water connections are provided for domestic, non domestic and commercial purposes. The procedure to get a new water connection is as follows

  • The procedure for getting new water connection is as below
    • An application has to be submitted in the office to get a water connection form of Rs.10/-
    • Submission of printed form duly filled with enclosures e.g. tax paid receipt etc.
    • On the report of concerned official from Engg. Section and after verifying all the documents, necessary approval will be obtained from the CEO to release private water connection.
    • An amount in the form of security has to be deposited in this office for the said connection
    • Issue of internal pipeline fitting letter by the office asking the applicant to lay the pipe line by any licensed plumber up to main line.
    • After completing internal fitting, reply should be submitted by the applicant to the office.
    • Preparation of estimate by the Engg. Section of the office for proposed connection and issue of letter for depositing the estimated cost.
    • Connection will be released on site by the Cantt. Board’s plumber only and certificate duly signed by him & the applicant will be filed in the office.

Future Planning

Dehuroad Cantonment Board has commenced its own water supply scheme with Pawana River as source having Head works with Pump House in Rev. Sy. No. 7 of village Mamurdi on the left bank of river near Mamurdi-Gahunje bridge. From where, raw water is lifted and through M.S. pipes of 609.1 mm dia, 7.1 mm thick of length 3000m brought up to Water Treatment Plant having capacity of 16 MLD located at GLR Sy. No. 85 near Shivaji Vidyalaya. At WTP, the water has get treated / purified and sent to the GSRs located on hillock behind Cantt. General Hospital from where supply is done through pipe line distribution network in Cantt. Area by gravity.

From the existing scheme, about 75% of Cantt. Area is being supplied the treated potable water. However, due to non-availability of proper water rising mains & Pipe line distribution network, 25% area still depends on water supply from PCMC and MIDC.

Citizens Responsibility

Dos and Don’ts using potable water

  1. Citizen should not install online booster pumps / appliances.
  2. Citizens should replace old, corroded, rusted or leaking service lines linked with Cantonment Board main distribution lines.
  3. Service pipe should be laid away from GI’s and sewer lines to avoid contamination of water.
  4. The pvt.overhead tank should be in proper usable condition .
  5. The pvt.underground / overhead tanks should be cleaned periodically.
  6. Filtered water should not be used for :- Washing of animals or vehicles or for any trade, manufacture or business or fountains, swimming pools etc. construction / repair work of any kind, Gardening, farming, irrigation or washing street etc.
  7. The underground / overhead tanks should have proper ball cocks / valves to avoid wastage of water through overflow.
  8. Citizen should switch to smaller cistern of 4 to 10 ltrs capacity. These are easily available in the market.
  9. The leaking bib cocks / stop cocks be got replaced to avoid wastage of water.
